bbb LLC is an Osaka-based importer and distributor. We acquire exclusive Japanese distribution rights for products not yet sold here, then handle the launch, the marketing and the ongoing sales ourselves.
Vision
A distributor should be an argument for the product, not just a route to market.
Most overseas products that fail in Japan were never bad products. They arrived with packaging that had been translated instead of rewritten, with no one available to answer a customer in Japanese, and with a partner whose interest ended once the container cleared customs.
We take on a small number of products and treat each one as our own brand. That means we say no often, and early. When we do sign, we are committing to build a market for the product in Japan rather than to move a single order.

Process
How we work with manufacturers
You ship to us. Everything after that is our responsibility.
Distribution agreement
We agree on territory, minimum order quantities and pricing, then sign an exclusive distribution agreement for Japan.
Preparing the product
Japanese packaging and instructions, required labelling and regulatory checks, and product copy written for Japanese buyers rather than translated.
Launch
A crowdfunding launch builds the first customer base and proves demand before larger orders, supported by paid social and creator marketing.
Ongoing sales
The product moves onto our own store, Amazon.co.jp and Rakuten, plus trade shows and wholesale accounts for long-term volume.
Compliance
What entering Japan actually requires
Most overseas products stall at the same points. We check these before we commit to an agreement, not after the first container arrives.
- Which Japanese law governs the category — electrical, cosmetics, food, medical device or general goods
- Certification and labelling required before the product can legally be sold
- Japanese-language instructions, ingredient lists and importer details on the package
- Customs classification and duty rates that determine your landed cost
- Product liability and after-sales handling, held by us as the importer of record

Japan is a market where small details decide the outcome. The wording on a package, the speed of a reply, the way a return is handled — these are what build a reputation here, and they are all things a distributor either does properly or does not do at all.
I built this company to be the partner I would want if I were sending my own product into an unfamiliar market: one that answers honestly and early. If I do not believe a product will sell in Japan, I will tell you before we sign anything.
